South Florida Palm Society

South Florida Palm Society - Show and Sale, April 27-28, 2024

Common, Uncommon and Extremely Rare Palms and Cycads for sale!

The South Florida Palm Society will be conducting its first Spring Show and Sale in eight years.  And the event will be at a new venue:  The Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami.

The sale will take place on April 27-28, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on the west side of the campus, just steps from the Gifford Arboretum, since 1951 a botanical oasis on the western edge of the university.  Experienced growers will offer an outstanding array of palms and cycads, including many rare species, and they are always willing to answer questions about planting and maintaining the species they offer.

But plant sales are only a part of what the South Florida Palm Society will be presenting.  The University of Miami has an impressive collection of palms and other tropical plants.   Two tours will be available each day.  On Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 am, Lenny Goldstein will guide visitors through the palms of the Gifford Arboretum.   On Saturday at 2:00 pm, Dr. John Cozza will lead a tour of the entire Arboretum.  On Sunday at 2:00 pm, Horace Hobbs will take guests through the Palmetum in the interior of the campus.   Tours will start in front of the entrance to the sale area.

Admission to both the sale and the tours is FREE.

The sale area is easy to locate.  A large sign marks the entrance to the Gifford Arboretum on San Amaro Dr., five blocks north of the circle at Miller Dr. and one block south of the circle at Campo Sano Ave.  Turn into the Arboretum entrance and then make an immediate right turn into the parking area adjacent to the vendors’ spaces.

We look forward to seeing you on April 27-28!
